The Self-help Group of the Families and Friends of the People with Mental Problems “Nie jesteś sam” Association.
The “Nie Jesteś Sam” (You Are Not Alone) Association was founded in Wrocław in the year 1995.
It gathers people with various mental disorders, their friends, families and everyone who shares our goals:
mutual help and support,
the integration of the ill people with the society,
social and professional elicitation of the ill people,
media dissemination of the idea of helping ill people and combating the harming mental illness stereotype,
watching over the proper treatment of the ill people by the medical personnel in accordance to the Patient’s Rights Charter.
spreading the knowledge about the mental illnesses in the society.
We are members of the national Federation of Associations of Families and Carers of Mentally Ill People "POL-FAMILIA", a part of the international EUFAMI organization.
We take active part in various types of social actions (e.g. protesting against the “Stop wariatom drogowym” [Stop the road lunatics] commercial) aimed at improving the image of the mentally ill.
We cooperate regularly with the Heath Department of the Municipal Office, PFRON and MOPS in many projects aimed at supporting and eliciting people under our charge.
In 2007 we became the organizer of the First Wrocław Mentally Ill Persons’ Art Competition supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
